Former Judge James Mann of Nunda, NY; ethical troll

The New York Commission on Judicial Conduct found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was a Justice of the Nunda Town Court and a Justice of the Nunda Village Court in Livingston County.

  • Pulled strings to get his ex-brother-in-law James Forrester off the hook for driving drunk
  • Called the town police chief and asked that former brother-in-law who was in process of being arrested get a “break”
  • When arrested, Forrester failed three sobriety tests, causing police to cuff him
  • After Jimmy’s call, the police chief told officers to let Forrester go and have someone else drive his car home
  • Failed to uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary
  • Failed to maintain high standards of judicial conduct
  • Failed to respect and comply with the law

As a direct consequence of his egregious misconduct, Jimmy took the cowards way out and resigned with the knowledge that he would likely be removed from office. In resigning, Jimmy agreed to never work as a judge again.

As we speak (ca. December 2019), rumor has it that Jimmy has applied for a job as a greeter at the Walmart Supercenter Store at 4235 Veteran Drive in Geneseo, New York.
