Attorney Scott Bettencourt of Duxbury, MA; lying slacker

The state of Massachusetts presented Scott Eliot Bettencourt with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from Suffolk University School of Law.

FYI: Suffolk University is ranked as the 159th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Scotty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Neglected a client matter
  • Failed to file a collection suit or take further action to collect the judgment beyond attempting to secure voluntary satisfaction of the judgment
  • Failed to respond to client information inquiries
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Intentionally made misrepresentations to his client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Bar Overseers punished Scotty by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As one would suspect, Scotty fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.bettencourtlaw.com. Apparently, he decided to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients to assure that he would not limit his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. December 2019) Scotty practices with Bettencourt Law at 333 Tremont Street in Duxbury, Massachusetts.

CAUTION: Scotty does not carry legal malpractice insurance
