Attorney Richard Hoppel of East Liverpool, OH; idiotic thief

The state of Ohio presented Richard V. Hoppel with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from the Thomas Cooley School of Law.

FYI: Cooley is ranked as the worst or one of the worst law schools in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools. Proof of such a ranking is the fact that Donald Trump’s former attorney and fixer was none other than convicted felon Michael Cohen.

The Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found Dick guilty of the following misconduct.

• Charged with 80 violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct
• Failed to provide competent representation (idiot)
• Accepted fees to represent numerous clients in bankruptcy proceedings and then failed to perform the work he was paid to provide
• Accepted retainers and deposits for court costs totaling over $14,000 for 14 separate client matters and converted them to his own use to buy cocaine
• Repeatedly failed to perform work on behalf of his clients
• Repeatedly failed to appear at court hearings
• Was found in contempt of court and was sentenced to two consecutive 60-day jail terms
• Failed to respond to client attempts to contact him
• Failed to keep clients informed of stats of their matters
• Failed to reasonably consult with one client about the means necessary to achieve her objectives
• Collected excessive and unreasonable fees (thief)
• Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, deceit, and misrepresentation
• Falsely advised clients he needed additional time to prepare their bankruptcy petitions for filing
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Knowingly made a false statement of fact or law to a tribunal
• Engaged in conduct that adversely reflects on his fitness to practice law

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.
