Attorney Michael Ranspot of British Columbia, CAN; assaulted girlfriend

The state of South Carolina presented Michael M. Ranspot with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from the University of British Columbia School of Law.

The Law Society Disciplinary Committee found Mickey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Assaulted a client who was his girlfriend, sending her to the hospital
  • Improperly loaned money to a client without ensuring she received independent legal advice
  • Engaged in sexual relationship with client while representing her in family law matter
  • Pled guilty to assault causing bodily harm
  • Refused to take any responsibility for his misconduct
  • Displayed blatant disregard for social responsibility he holds as a lawyer
  • Exhibited a stunning lack of judgment

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Committee punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. November 2019), Mikey practices at 1785 Esquimalt Avenue in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
