Judge Richard Klah of Liberia; charged with soliciting bribe

The Judiciary Inquiry Commission (JIC) found Judge Klah guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Solicited a bribe from litigants in matter pending in his court
  • Received a bribe under the pretext that he would enter a judgment in favor of a complainant, Swansey Fallah, who is the General Manager of Kingdom Business Inc.

In its report to the Supreme Court of Nigeria, recommending that Judge Klah be suspended from the bench for 1-year, the NIC stated:

“That, for his false statements under oath made both in his response to the complaint and in his testimony before the commission, which by law is criminal, a further three months suspension be imposed upon Klah.

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Judge Klah by the justices sitting on the Supreme Court of Liberia.

As we speak (ca. July 2019) Judge Klah continues to sit as an Associate Judge, Commercial Court, Montserrado County in Bensonville, Liberia.

His Honor Richard S. Klah, Assoc. Judge, Commercial Court, Montserrado County
