Attorney Walter L. Baumgardner of St. Clair Shores, MI; ethical leprechaun

The Michigan Supreme Court presented Walter L. Baumgardner with a law license in 1978.

In late 2010, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tri-County Hearing Panel of the Attorney Discipline Board punished Walter for his misconduct by recommending that he be gifted with a 30 days suspension.

Walter was found convicted of criminal contempt of court pursuant to MCL 600.1701 for engaging in disorderly, contemptuous, or insolent behavior in the immediate view and presence of the court that directly tended to interrupt its proceedings.

The board also found Walter guilty of violating MCR 9.104(A)(5), which includes conduct:
  • Prejudicial to the proper administration of justice
  • Violating a criminal law of a state or of the United States
  • Failing to respond to a disciplinary board’s inquiries
  • Conduct contrary to justice, ethics, honesty or good morals
When Walter’s non-punishment of a 30 day suspension came before the Supreme Court, they increased the punishment to a 180 day suspension.

As we speak (ca. March 2012) Walter is practicing law at 24001 Greater Mack Avenue in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan, which is about 27 miles northeast of Detroit.
