Attorney Joseph Cote III of Syracuse, NY; slacker, loser

The state of New York presented Joseph S. Cote III with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from the Syracuse University School of Law.

The Departmental Disciplinary Committee found Joey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Neglected a legal matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to provide client in writing the method by which his fee was to be determined
  • Failed to properly supervise office staff
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Joey’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He was previously disciplined on several occasions for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Committee punished Joey by gifting him with a stayed complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Joey.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Joey practices of with Cote & Van Dyke LLP at 214 North State Street in Syracuse, New York.
