Attorney Timothy Coughlin of Portsmouth, NH; ethical troll

The state of New Hampshire presented Timothy C. Coughlin with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from Syracuse University School of Law.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Timmy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Violated or attempted to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another
  • Misconduct caused actual injury to his client
  • Filed a motion for contempt to enforce an order that had already been vacated by the court
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Conduct caused trial court to hold a hearing on a meritless motion
  • Negligence led to court imposing $500 sanction against his client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Professional Conduct Committee punished Timmy by gifting him with complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Timmy practices at 439 Middle Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
