Attorney Matthew Schultz of Tempe, AZ; liar, repeat offender

 

The state of Arizona presented Matthew Steven Schultz with a law license in 2002 after he graduated from Arizona State University School of Law.

 

The Arizona State Bar found Matty guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

 

Matty’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • In divorce case, Matty wasn’t candid with the opposing party when he failed to notify her that he had received funds in which she claimed an interest through a recorded judgment
  • Acquired a pecuniary interest adverse to his client without fully disclosing to him the transaction in written terms the client could reasonably understand
  • Knowingly made false and contradictory claims to the State Bar during its screening investigation
  • Misconduct involved dishonest or selfish motive
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Victim of misconduct was vulnerable
  • Made false statements or other depictive practices during disciplinary process (Screw you, said Matty!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law licenseand ordered to pay $1,211.75 for the costs of the ethics proceedings. 

Matty’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in a conflict of interest by having an intimate and sexual relationship with his family law client
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Misconduct involved dishonest or selfish motive
  • Victim of misconduct was vulnerable
  • Refused to acknowledge wrong nature of conduct

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. April 2019) Matty practices with the Law Offices of Matthew S. Schultz PC at 401 West Baseline Road in Tempe, Arizona.
