Attorney Kevin Kennedy of Pittsboro, NC; repeat offender

The state of North Carolina provided Kevin Kennedy with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from the University of North Carolina Law School.

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Kevin guilty of the following misconduct.

Kevin’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Entered a plea in traffic case without authorization
• Failed to communicate with client
• Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Kevin!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Kevin by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

Kevin’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Used client trust funds for unauthorized purpose
• Failed to reconcile his trust account
• Maintained inaccurate client ledgers
• Commingled client funds with personal funds
• Misconduct involved multiple offenses
• Caused negative impact on public’s perception of the profession
• Intent to commit misconduct caused harm or potential harm was foreseeable

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Kevin by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Kevin
