Attorney Kevin Kennedy of Chapel Hill, NC; ethical troll

The state of North Carolina presented Kevin Michael Kennedy with a law license in 2002 after he graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Kevin guilty of the following misconduct.

• Disbursed more entrusted funds on behalf of a client than he held in trust for the benefit of that client, thereby utilizing other clients’ entrusted funds for an unauthorized purpose
• Failed to reconcile his trust account,
• Failed to maintain inaccurate client ledgers, and
• Commingled his personal funds with entrusted client funds.
• Ledgers that did not accurately reflect the balance of client ledgers
• Frequently over-disbursing funds to and on behalf of clients as reflected on client ledgers
• Made overpayments to his law office and over-disbursements to clients
• Used entrusted client funds for his  benefit or benefit of persons other than the legal or beneficial owner of said entrusted funds
• Conduct undermined public's confidence in lawyers' ability to safely maintain entrusted client funds
• Entered a plea in a traffic case without authorization to so act
• Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Bobby!)
• Misconduct involved multiple offenses

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Kevin by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Kevin.

As one would suspect, Kevin fails to mention the aforementioned misconduct on his self-serving website at www.kevinkennedylaw.com. Apparently, Kevin chose to conceal this highly relevant information from prospective clients so as to not limit his future victim pool.
