Attorney Joseph Barrett of Salt Lake City; thieving loser

The state of Utah presented Joseph P. Barrett with a law license in 1998 after he graduated from the University of New Hampshire School of Law.

The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme Court found Joey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Failed to acknowledge the wrongful nature of the misconduct
  • Misappropriated (stole) law firm funds when exchanged legal services for construction work on his home and yard in two cases
  • Accepted payment from a firm client and deposited the funds into his personal account without his firm’s knowledge
  • Motivated by a dishonest or selfish motive
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Utah Supreme Court punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary 150-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2019), Joey practices with Barrett Law at 948 South 200 East in Salt Lake City, Utah.
