Attorney Scott Poston of Salt Lake City; slacker, loser

The state of Utah presented Scott T. Poston with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from Brigham Young University School of Law.

The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme Court found Scottie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Scottie!)
  • Failed to deposit client flat fee in his trust account
  • Did not earn the entire flat fee
  • Failed to file Freedom of Information Request (FOIA) on client’s behalf for at least two months
  • Took three months to report to his client the FOIA info he received
  • Failed to contact the criminal prosecutor for months after he was retained, after telling his client it would only take a few weeks to resolve
  • Failed to follow up on his conversation with the criminal prosecution and ultimately did nothing to address his client’s criminal charge
  • Failed to report to his client in a timely manner regarding the work he performed

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Utah Supreme Court punished Scottie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Scottie practices with Poston Law at 299 South Main Street in Salt Lake City, Utah.
