Attorney James Jorgensen of Raleigh, NC; liar, repeat offender

 

The state of North Carolina provided James N. Jorgensen with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law.

 

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Jimmy’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to respond to numerous client information requests
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to advise client regarding status of case
  • Failed to promptly disburse funds owing to client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Jimmy’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Circumstances reflected on Jimmy’s lack of honesty, trustworthiness and integrity
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Actions had a potential negative impact on his clients' and the public's perception of the legal profession
  • Conduct had a negative impact on the administration of justice;
  • Conduct impaired each client's ability to achieve the goals of their representation
  • Jimmy's conduct had an adverse effect on third parties
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Victims of misconduct were vulnerable
  • Failed to perform reconciliations of his trust accounts from 2010 thru 2018
  • Lied to clients about a hearing date in their lawsuit
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Failed to review, sign, date and retain copies of the monthly and quarterly reconciliations of his trust accounts for six years
  • Failed to perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations
  • Failed to prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly reconciliations as required

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 3-year suspension of his law license.

 

In truth, the comedians sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Jimmy.
