Attorney John Coyne of New Bedford, MA; ethical goblin

The state of Massachusetts presented John M. Coyne with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from Boston University Law School.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to notify his client of the receipt of funds
  • Failed to promptly remit funds due and owing to his client
  • Failed to perform a three-way reconciliation of his IOLTA accounts
  • Failed to keep an account ledger with a client identifier after every transaction and list of every transaction and running balance for each IOLTA account
  • Failed to keep individual client ledgers
  • Failed to keep a ledger of funds for bank fees and charges in his IOLTA accounts listing every deposit and expenditure and running balance

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2019) Johnny practices with the Law Office of John M. Coyne at 651 Orchard Street in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
