Today’s “Screwball” Award Winner is Mrs. Rick Santorum

Congratulations to….

Mrs. Rick Santorum
2011 “Screwball” Award Winner

While giving an interview on the Christian Broadcast Network (CBN) on Jan 10, 2012, Karen Santorum decided it was time for her to claim the Holy Spirit was a de facto supporter of Ricky’s attempt to become the Republican candidate for President.

In Catholicism (Ricky sez he’s a devout Catholic) the Holy Spirit is defined as the Holy Trinity which includes (a) God the Father, (b) God the Son, and (c) God the Holy Spirit.

During her interview on CBN, Karen said in part, “I’m just there praying for him [Ricky], asking the Holy Spirit to speak through him. And feel like God’s hand of protection is upon us.” Put simply, Karen apparently believes that Ricky is God’s spokesman. Goshes and Gollies, how cool is that?

I must admit that I’m a little befuddled by Karen’s claim that Ricky may be God’s favorite son among Republican Presidential candidates. Remember what Herman Cain said in Atlanta about his conversation with God? Well here it is:

"I had to do a lot of praying for this one, more praying than I have ever done before in my life. And when I finally realized that it was God saying that this is what I needed to do, I was like Moses: ‘You have got the wrong man, Lord. Are you sure? ... Once I made the decision, I did not look back."

And then we had Mrs. Anita Perry claiming she received a “communiqué” from God that Ricky should run for president.

Is it possible that Karen, Herman and Anita were speaking to three different Gods? I mean do y’all believe that God actually supported three different candidates at the same time? Or is it more plausible that Herman, Anita and Karen’s claims are pure hyperbole (BS)? Yeah, I agree with you Rufus!

To be fair to this Trifecta of aspiring standup comedians, maybe they would have been more believable if they said they communicated individually with Moe, Curly and Larry. Now that would have been cool, right?

Congrats Karen; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as an aspiring Screwball; you are far too humble.
