Attorney Deborah Cobb of Collinsville, IL; ethical goblin

The state of Illinois presented Deborah Crouse Cobb with a law license in 1984 after she graduated from DePaul University Law School.

The Disciplinary Commission found Debbie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)
  • Failed to obtain reports of clients' psychological evaluations or discuss those evaluations with her clients
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest due to her business and personal relationship with the adoption agency involved in her client’s case
  • Failed to adequately explain the nature of the conflict to her clients
  • Failed to withdraw from representing the clients when her continued representation would result in her representing them while she had a conflict of interest

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Debbie by gifting her with a complimentary 60-day suspension of her law license.

As we speak (September 2018), Debbie practices with Crouse Cobb & Bays at 515 West Main Street in Collinsville, Illinois.
