Attorney Jeffrey Perlman of Philadelphia; slacker, loser

The state of Pennsylvania provided Jeffrey L. Perlman with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from Widener University Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Jeff guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to submit executed medical release form to opposing counsel
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to advise client of time and date of arbitration hearing
  • Filed for setting new date for arbitration hearing which was granted however he again failed to advise client of time and date of said hearing
  • Failed to advise client of court order dismissing his case
  • Engaged in illegal practice of law while license suspended
  • Failed to return repeated client calls
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Failed to obtain court approval to withdraw from client representation
  • Failed to explain matter to extent necessary to permit client to make informed decisions regarding representation
  • Failed to advise client his license had been temporarily suspended
  • Failed to advise client that trial court had sanctioned the client $400 for costs incurred by opposing counsel to file a motion to compel the client to respond to discover requests
  • Failed to notify client of receipt of settlement agreement that needed client’s signature
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Improperly withdrew from client representation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Jeff by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his law license effective February 2017.

As we speak (ca. August 2018), Jeff will have his license reinstated in August 2018 and will again be practicing with Caputo & Caputo PC at 1500 Walnut Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
