Attorney Vernon Donnelly of Solomons, MD; ethical troll

The state of Maryland presented Vernon Charles Donnelly with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the University of Baltimore Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Vernon guilty of the following misconduct.

• Identified himself as a trustee of a limited liability company for which he was a member and served as counsel, for filing a complaint for partition of property against one
• of the company’s members and assigning a client’s property rights to trust
• Failed to provide the complaint and assignment of contract rights to members who owned majority of company
• Failed to communicate changes of contract to a fee agreement
• Failed to have the contingent fee agreement signed by members who owned majority of company
• Failed to move to dismiss case
• Failed to promptly surrender papers upon termination of his representation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme punished Vernon by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.
