Attorney Joseph Paradiso of Ontario, CAN; serial offender

 

The Law Society of Upper Canada presented  Joseph Paradiso with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from the University of Ottawa Law School.

 

The Hearing Committee for the Law Society found  Brian guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Joey’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in professional misconduct
  • Misled [lied] to Court of Appeal regarding consent he received for filing of extension to file client’s appeal when in fact he did not have such consent
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Brian!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hearing Committee punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and ordered to pay costs of $1,000 to the Law Society.

 

Joey’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Dispersed trust funds held on behalf of his client from his trust account in contravention of client’s direction and to the detriment of an unrepresented party
  • Engaged in professional misconduct

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hearing Committee punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary 4-month suspension of his law license and ordered to pay costs of $4,000 to the Law Society.

 

Joey’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in a conflict of interest without disclosure or adequate disclosure of the conflict
  • Engaged in professional misconduct
  • Failed to advise clients re: conflict to seek independent legal advise
  • In two private mortgage transactions where represented the borrower and lender
  • Failed to be honest and candid with his lender client
  • Failed to disclose material facts relevant to two transactions concerning the borrower
  • Acted in two private mortgage transactions for both the lender and the borrower, where the loan in each case exceeded $50,000
  • Acted without integrity by failing to report two private mortgage transactions in his Lawyer's Annual Report

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hearing Committee punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary 9-month suspension of his law license and ordered to pay costs of $10,000 to the Law Society.

 

As we speak (ca. December 2018), Joey practices with Paradiso & Associates at 216 Chrislea Road in Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada.
