Judge Jonathan Hein of Greenville, OH; ethical troll

The state of Ohio presented Jonathan Paul Hein with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from the University of Toledo Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found Judge Hein guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was running for a position as a judge on the Darke County Court of Common Pleas. At the time, Jon was the elected prosecuting attorney for Darke County.

  • In campaign ads, Jon referred to his opponent as a “liberal” and “soft on criminals”
  • Jon’s statements were deemed to be deceiving and/or misleading to a reasonable person
  • Statements did not allow for a fair and accurate portrayal of the record of his opponent

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Judge Hien by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and a $2,500 fine.

As we speak (ca. June 2018) Jon sits as a Darke County Common Pleas Judge in Greenville, Ohio.
