Attorney Jon Sanford of Russellville, AR; greedy loser, repeat offender

The state of Arkansas presented Jon Rodgers Sanford with a law license in 1970 after he graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Law School.

The Committee on Professional found Jon guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to explain matter to extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
  • Prepared trust agreement for estranged wife that included  a  provision  that  he  would  not  charge  a  fee  for  his  services  as  trustee; however, in another  provision in the same trust agreement, he included a provision that established a formula under which he was to receive  compensation  for  managing  and  selling  the  marital  properties
  • Trial court refused to allow Jon to collect any fees as so-called trustee

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Jon’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received one (1) complimentary caution for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Jon by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (December 2018), Jon practices in Russellville, Arkansas.
