U.S. Judge Thomas Rice of Spokane, WA; one of the Good Guys

The state of Florida presented Thomas Owen Rice with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from Gonzaga University Law School.

In one matter, Judge Rice was assigned to preside over a case involving the Trump Administration and Planned Parenthood.

In this instance, the Trump administration blocked grants awarded to Planned Parenthood through a federal teen pregnancy prevention program. Judge Rice issued a permanent injunction preventing the administration from ending the grants two years earlier than originally planned, saying that doing so would cause public harm. (Joan McCarter)

In his order, Judge Rice said in part:

"The Court determines that the public interest weighs in favor of Plaintiffs, as it would prevent harm to the community ... and prevent loss of data regarding the effectiveness of teen pregnancy prevention."

Trump Toadies had secretly cut $213 million in funding for teen pregnancy prevention programs, not informing the 80 some providers around the country that the funding was being cut off.

Kudos to Judge Rice for having the courage and fortitude to stand up to the right-wing loons in the Trump administration.

As we speak (ca. May 2018), Judge Rice continues to sit as a U.S. District Court Judge in Spokane, Washington.
