Attorney Stephen Yacobi of Greenville, SC; slacker, serial offender

The State of South Carolina presented Stephen A. Yacobi with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the South Carolina Supreme Court found Stevie guilty of the following misconduct.

Stevie’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to disclose a fact necessary to correct a misapprehension known by the person to have arisen in the matter, or knowingly failed to respond to a lawful demand for information from an admissions or disciplinary authority
• Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to communicate with client
• Failed to decline/terminate representation when required to do so

Stevie’s 3^rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to communicate with client
• Failed to properly supervise office staff

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the South Carolina Supreme punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

Stevie’s 4^th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed consult with the client about the means by which the client's objectives are to be accomplished
• Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
• Failed to respond to client information requests
• Commingled client funds with personal funds
• Failed to maintain complete records of client funds
• Failed to take reasonable steps to protect client interests upon termination
• Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Stevie!)
• Engaged in conduct tending to pollute the administration of justice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the South Carolina Supreme punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
