Attorney Michael Kovalcin of Philipsburg, PA; Dumbo, liar

The state of Florida presented Michael Patrick Kovalcin with a law license in 2012 after he graduated from the University of Maine Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Mikey guilty of the following misconduct.

• Neglected two client legal matters entrusted to him
• Mishandled client funds
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to cooperate with his prior firm partner in dissolving their firm
• Failed to account for client funds totaling $10,000
• Client’s landlord/tenant dispute dismissed due to Mikey’s failure to respond to preliminary objections
• Failed to respond to attempts to resolve landlord/tenant dispute and file timely responses
• Unauthorized practice of law before bankruptcy court
• Knowingly lied to clients about progress of legal matter
• Failed to advise client’s that a court judgment was entered against them for more than $400,000 in damages and attorney fees
• $215,000 paid out by Mikey’s malpractice insurer regarding $400,000 judgment rendered against his clients
• Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)
• Failed to keep client informed about status of matter

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2018), Mikey practices with Kovalcin Law LLC at 317 East Presqueisle Street in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania.
