Attorney Jodie Siegel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; caught shoplifting

The State of Florida presented Jodie Siegel with a law license in 1999.

The State Bar of Florida charged Jodie with the following misconduct.

Jodie was arrested on in early 2010 and charged with grand theft (shoplifting). Jodie removed personal grooming and cosmetics from a Sephora Beauty Store without paying for them.

Initially, Jodie contested the grand theft charge by saying she had receipts for certain items that were in her possession at the time of her arrest.

However, upon the advice of her attorney, Jodie subsequently entered into a deferred prosecution agreement. After Jodie completed the program the criminal charges were dismissed. Jodie attended an anti-theft course and completed 40 hours of community service.

Jodie admitted by the facts put forth by the State Bar that she violated Florida Bar Rule 9.4(B) – MISCONDUCT – (A lawyer shall not commit a criminal act that reflects adversely on the lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness as a lawyer in other respects.)

As a consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Jodie by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. December 2011), Joe practices with Doumar, Allsworth, Lavstrom, Voigt, Wachs, Adair & Bosack at 1177 SE 3rd Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

On its website at www.sflalaw.com, Jodie’s law firm makes no mention that she was previously arrested for shoplifting. Apparently, the firm decided to not disclose such information in order to not limit its future victim pool.
