Attorney Andrew Hanley of Wilmington, NC; serial tax cheat

The state of North Carolina presented Andrew J. Hanley with a law license in 1997 after he graduated from Emory University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Andy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Willfully failed to file state income tax returns for three years
  • Plead guilty for willful failure to file state income tax returns
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice
  • Failed to properly maintain entrusted client funds
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Andy by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year stayed suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Disciplinary Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Andy.

As we speak (ca. October 2018) Clay practices with Crossley, McIntosh, Collier Hanley & Edes at 5002 Randall Parkway in Wilmington, North Carolina.
