Attorney Rita Sanders of Springfield, MO; ethical gremlin

The state of Missouri presented Rita Kay Sanders with a law license in 2000 after she graduated from the University of Iowa Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Rita guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Failed to deposit unearned fees in trust account
  • Failed to promptly notify client of receipt of client funds
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Made improper disbursement based upon a deposit wherein he had reasonable cause to believe the funds had not actually been collected by the financial institution in which his trust account was held

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on Disciplinary Counsel punished Rita by gifting her with a complimentary 1-year term of probation.

In truth, the comedians sitting on Disciplinary Counsel didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Rita.

As we speak (ca. February 2018), Rita practices at 3023 South Kimbrough Avenue in Springfield, Missouri.
