Judge James Curran of Hebron, NY; ethical gnome

The state of New York presented James P. Curran with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from the City University of New York (CUNY) Law School.

Mary’s misconduct occurred while she was serving as a Judge of the Binghamton City Court in Broome County, which led the Judicial Commission to find her guilty of the following misconduct.

The Judicial Commission found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to avoid appearance of impropriety
  • Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) communications
  • Failed to act impartially
  • Failed to accord every person who has a legal interest in a court proceeding or that person’s lawyer the right to be heard according to the law
  • Failed to perform judicial duties without bias
  • Considered communications made to him outside the presence of the concerned parties and/or their attorneys

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. January 2016) Jimmy continues to sit as a Justice of the Hebron Town Court, Washington County in Hebron, New York.
