Judge Regina Carvajal of Dominican Republic; ethical gremlin

The state of California presented Michael Aaron Persky with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from the University of California Berkeley Law School.

The Dominican Republic High Court recently (December 2017) terminated Judge Carvajal’s services after they found her guilty of serious offenses on the bench.

The High Court found Judge Carvajal guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Improperly ruled in favor of drug traffickers
  • Ordered the release of convicted murderer Pedro Alejandro Castillo on bond
  • Shortly after Castillo’s released he was arrested for kidnapping and murdering Spaniard Victor Mella Terrero

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, Judge Carvajal was removed from the bench.

As we speak (ca. January 2018), Carvajal practices law in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
