Attorney Laura Marshard of Barnstable, MA; ethical gremlin

The state of the Massachusetts presented Laura Marshard with a law license in 1991 after she graduated from Williamette University Law School.

The state Board of Bar Overseers found Laura guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while she was employed as a Cape and Islands Assistant District Attorney. (Madeleine List)

  • Engaged in willful and intentional misconduct
  • Showed a lack of candor during disciplinary hearing (Up yours, said Laura!)
  • Failed to recognize wrongful nature of her misconduct
  • Failed to disclose exculpatory evidence to defense counsel
  • Met with represented witness in a criminal case without the knowledge or consent of his attorney
  • Failed to correct false testimony given before a grand jury

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Bar Overseers punished Laura by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. December 2017), Laura continues to be employed as a Cape and Islands Assistant District Attorney in Barnstable, Massachusetts.
