Texas State Sen. Troy Fraser: Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Texas State Sen. Troy Fraser
Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield” Award Winner

On October 24 I filed a criminal complaint with the Travis County District Attorney regarding the unlawful conduct of Sen. Troy Fraser from 2001 through 2009. A copy can be found at http://tinyurl.com/3qepche.

The criminal complaint related to Fraser’s unlawful conversion of $7,820 in campaign funds to purchase what he had the chutzpah to call “campaign suits.”

He also filed nine (9) false financial statements (ca. 2001-2009) under oath wherein he did not disclose his personal liability for an apartment lease in Austin and leases for a Lexus and BMW.

When confronted with this evidence, Troy the Comic issued a Press Release, which can be found at the end of this article. Troy’s press release is an admission that he violated the law regarding the purchase of suits with campaign funds along with the filing of nine false financial statements under oath.

Troy apparently is under the impression that if you’re caught making false statements under oath on at least 9 occasions, all you have to do is amend your prior perjured statements. He also believes that when caught illegally converting campaign funds to personal use all you’ve gotta do is return the ill-gotten gains.

If you were caught submitting a false financial statement to the Small Business Administration (SBA) and obtained a $100,000 loan do ya think the U.S. Attorney would forgo prosecuting you if you returned the $100,000 and “amended” your false application? Apparently, Troy actually believes that the statements in his so-called “press release” are all that is needed to render his past criminal conduct moot.

Congrats Troy; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as an unaccomplished standup comedian; you are far too humble.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 31, 2011

Statement by Senator Troy Fraser (R-Horseshoe Bay):

"The apartment lease is reflected on my campaign finance report. I was not aware that the obligation was not also listed on my Personal Financial Statement. After speaking to legal counsel, I have amended my filed reports this morning to reflect this liability.

"The clothing I purchased was strictly for legislative use and was not converted to personal use. However, I have reimbursed the campaign from personal funds for these suits to ensure that no further questions remain."
