Attorney Stephen C. Worth of NY; apologist for dishonest New York City cops

Attorney Stephen Charles Worth was presented with a license to practice law in 1977. He heads up a firm called Worth, Longworth & London with offices in Manhattan and Long Island.

On Oct 28, reporters N.R. Kleinfield and John Eligon of the New York Times wrote a story titled: “Officers Jeer and Curse as Colleagues are Arraigned on Ticket-Fixing Charges.” (http://tinyurl.com/3nqm3ku)

16 New York City police officers were arraigned in a Bronx court. The indictments contained more than 1,600 criminal counts, the bulk of them misdemeanors having to do with making tickets disappear – as favors for friends, relatives and others with clout. (NY Times)

While apparently donning a pair of industrial strength knee pads while representing 11 of the defendants at the arraignment, had the chutzpah to criticize the case as “prosecutorial overcharging” for relatively minor administrative misconduct at best.”

According to Mr. Worth, police officers sworn to uphold the law are merely engaged in “minor administrative misconduct” when they illegally “fix tickets” for friends, relatives and political hacks. Apparently, among some New York City Cops, “protect and serve” is limited to friends, relatives and those with political clout. Isn’t New York City a wonderful country?

Fixing tickets is a criminal offense and each and every one of these so-called police officers should be sentenced to the fullest extent of the law.

On his web site, Mr. Worth states, “The firm’s entire focus is on defending law enforcement officers’ rights and minimizing the impact on their careers and their financial assets when a complaint is lodged against them or they are accused of a crime.

If Stephen the Enabler was truly concerned about the fair and impartial dispensation of justice he would be lobbying the courts to review each and every ticket handed out by his clients to New Yorkers who weren’t friends and relatives of his clients.
