Attorney Stephen Kaplan of Needham, MA; fraudulent scammer

The state of Massachusetts presented Stephen M. Kaplan with a law license in 1972 after he graduated Suffolk University Law School.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Stephen guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Hid funds in client trust account to conceal them from his creditors
  • Improperly issued checks from trust account to pay personal bills
  • Failed to maintain individual client ledgers
  • Failed to perform mandatory 3-way reconciliation of trust account

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Stephen by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

Bar Overseers Laughable Mitigation Credit for Stephen

In a lame effort at levity, the comedians sitting on the Board of Bar Overseers gave credit in mitigation to Stephen as follows.

  • Suffered from persistent depression

I see, the only reason that Stephen concealed his personal funds by hiding them in his client trust account was because he was depressed and not because he was trying to scam his creditors. Only died-in-the-wool comedic enablers for Attorney Misfits would make such a laughable claim.

As we speak (ca. October 2017) Stephen practices with the Law Office of Stephen M. Kaplan at 175 Highland Avenue in Needham, Massachusetts.
