Attorney Christopher Wheaton of Naperville, IL; lying scammer

The state of Illinois presented Christopher John Wheaton with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from Northern Illinois University Law School.

The Disciplinary Commission found Chris guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Advised four different prison inmates or their families that he could obtain work release for them because of his access to a corrections official
  • Failed to advise clients that his services consisted entirely of making, at most, a few short telephone calls to the official’s office to ask the official’s secretary to check on work release availability for an inmate
  • When inmate clients sought information about their matters, Chris falsely told them that he had traveled to Springfield numerous times and "presented" their cases to the official

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Chris by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (August 2018), Linda practices at 411 Hamilton Blvd in Peoria, Illinois.

CAUTION: Chris does not carry legal malpractice insurance
