Attorney Philip Settles of Acme, MI; ethical misfit

The state of Michigan provided Philip A. Settles with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

The Grand Traverse County Hearing Panel found Phil guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Transferred client settlement funds into firm’s account w/o client authority
  • Paid entire settlement as fees w/o client knowledge or consent
  • Failed to advise client she had right to dispute his claim for fees

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Panel punished Phil by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (September 2017), Phil practices with Brott Settles & Brott PC at 5168 US 31 North in Acme, Michigan.
