Attorney Lauren Thompson of Williamson, WV; ethical gnome

The state of West Virginia presented Lauren Thompson with a law license in 2009 after she graduated from the University of West Virginia Law School.

The Lawyer Disciplinary Board found Lauren guilty of the following misconduct.

• Disregarded court orders commanding filing of appellate briefs in appeals brought by parents who had their parental rights terminated at the circuit court level
• Failed to act in her capacity as court-appointed guardian ad litem representing the best interests of an infant
• Engaged in intentional contempt of court
• Failed to timely file appellate response briefs
• Found in contempt of court
• Ordered she be denied eligibility for future guardian ad litem appointments

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the West Virginia Supreme Court punished Lauren by gifting her with a complimentary 90-day suspension of her law license.

As we speak (July 2017), Lauren practices with the Thompson Law Office PLLC at 102 Logan Street in Williamson, West Virginia.
