DA Leon Cannizzaro Jr. of New Orleans; ethical leprechaun

The State of Louisiana presented Leon A. Cannizzaro Jr. with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from Loyola University Law School.

It should be noted that Leon has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past thirty-eight (38) years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater New Orleans area was about to offer this loser a good paying job.

In one matter, Leon was caught issuing fake subpoenas that threatened if the recipient ignored the notice he or she would be fined or imprisoned, according to The Lens. (Charlie May)

In one instance, Tiffany Laroix was the recipient of one of Leon’s fake subpoenas which stated in caps:

“A FINE AND IMPRISONMENT MAY BE IMPOSED FOR FAILURE TO OBEY THIS NOTICE”

Tiffany was then ordered to talk with an assistant DA prior to an upcoming murder trial wherein Cardell Hayes was charged with killing former New Orleans Saints football player Will Smith.

Under Louisiana law, a subpoena can only be issued by the clerk of court after authorization by a judge, which is intended to prevent abuses by a DA like Leon and/or those of his ilk.

Of course, Leon doesn’t much give a damn if he’s consistently violating the law and/or the constitutional rights of the citizens of New Orleans.

Only time will tell if the apologists for Attorney Misfits at the Office of Disciplinary Counsel will take any action against Leon. And even if they do, it’s a given that the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court will punish Leon by gifting him with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. July 2017), Leon continues to be employed as the Orleans Parish District Attorney in New Orleans, Louisiana.
