Judge William McGovern of Newton, NJ; ethical gremlin

The state of New Jersey presented William J. McGovern a law license in 1952 after he graduated from Southwestern University Law School.

In 2004, former Gov.  Jim McGreevey was duped into appointing Billy as a Sussex County Superior Court judge. Billy didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Newton area. He received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hack.

In one matter, it is alleged that Billy violated and overturn a Final Judgment of Divorce Decree and cut parenting time in direct violation of court rules and New Jersey law. It is also alleged that Billy awarded a non-valid child support order that was clearly more than the party’s ability to pay and unfairly set child support by imputing a salary that was not supported by income tax returns that were submitted to the court.

In another matter, it has been alleged that Billy refused to listen to evince without just cause in a custody, visitation matter. It is also alleged that Billy set child support at a level that the non-custodial parent had no possible ability to pay. It is also alleged that Billy had improper contact with the non-custodial opponent’s lawyer.

If the above allegations are true, Billy should be bounced off the bench and if so he should be able to secure employment as a greeter at the Walmart at North Hampton House Road in Newton.

As we speak (ca. July 2017), Billy continues to sit as a Sussex County Superior Court judge in Hackensack, New Jersey.
