Attorney Mitchell Chyette of Oakland, CA; thief, check bouncer

The state of California presented Mitchell Chyette with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School.

The California Bar Court found Mitch guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Misappropriated (stole) nearly $90,000 from clients
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Wrote checks for $74,000 to resigned attorney who was never his client
  • Allowed unlicensed attorney to use his trust account for personal purposes
  • Wrote checks against insufficient funds (rubber)
  • Assisted suspended lawyer in the illegal practice of law
  • Misused his client trust account
  • Submitted false statements to ethics investigator (Screw you, said Mitch!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished Mitch by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

Because Attorney Misfits in California are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Mitch was never criminally charged with writing bad checks or grand larceny.

As we speak (ca. August 2017) Mitch practices at 5618 Ocean View Drive in Oakland, California.
