Attorney Joshua Engel of Cincinnati; convict, ethical leper-con, Dumbo

In 2010 Joshua the Dumbo (JD) pleaded guilty to criminal charges after authorities discovered he had ordered the installation of a computer “filter” that automatically copied him on emails between public safety employees, the inspector general’s office and Columbus Dispatch reporters. He was then sentenced to a 30-day jail sentence and fined $2,250.

In March 2011 the Ohio Surpeme Court’s so-called Disciplinary Counsel filed ethics charges against Josh. A hearing on the misconduct charges is scheduled for July 19, 2011.

If I was Joshua I wouldn’t be too concerned about being punished by the wimps, enablers and apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on Disciplinary Counsel or the Ohio Supreme Court.

If things pan out as they have over the past 50 or more years, as a consequence of his criminal conduct, the Ohio Supreme Court will likely punish Josh by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

To put things in perspective, over the past 50 or more years, Ohio has disciplined the least amount of attorneys of any state in the country.

If Joshua was a judge in the federal system he’d be allowed to surf-for-porn on government computers without the fear of ever being disciplined. In addition, there are many, many convicts serving as judges throughout the country; therefore, I wouldn’t be too concerned Josh.

The number of convicts that continue to practice law is truly staggering; therefore having another convict with a license shouldn’t be any big deal, right?

On his web site for his law office, Josh doesn’t tell any future victim that he’s a convicted criminal. However, he has the chutzpah to say,  “I am attorney Joshua Engel, and my law practice is dedicated to representing individuals facing criminal charges such as white collar crimes, computer crimes…”

Well I suppose even a criminal in Ohio should have the opportunity to earn a dishonest living as an attorney, right?

As we speak (ca. June 2011) Joshua practices his so-called brand of criminal law at 12 East Warren Street in Lebanon, Ohio which is about 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati.
