Attorney Janet Rubel of Northbrook, IL; ethical dwarf

The state of Illinois presented Janet Strange Rubel with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from the Chicago-Kent College of Law.

The Illinois Registration and Disciplinary Commission found Janet guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to abide by a client's decisions concerning objectives of the representation
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Failed to communicate the basis or rate of fee to client within a reasonable time after commencing the representation of a client
  • Engaged in conduct tending to defeat the administration of justice
  • Failed to take reasonable steps prior to withdrawal from a legal matter to avoid foreseeable prejudice to a client
  • Failed to promptly refund unearned fee (cheater)
  • Engaged in conduct tending to bring counts/legal profession into disrepute (What’s new?)

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Janet by gifting her with a complimentary 6-month suspension of her law license.

As we speak (March 2017), Janet practices at 555 Skokie Blvd in Northbrook, Illinois.
