Attorney Jeffrey Baker of Wilmington, NC; ethical leprechaun

The state of North Carolina presented Jeffrey R. Baker with a law license in 1982 after she graduated from Southern University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Jeff guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Conduct had negative impact on administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Submitted falsely notarized document to trial court
  • Failed to keep client reasonably informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to take steps to protect client interests upon termination
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Failed to abide by client decisions re: scope of representation
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to advise clients of his agreement to dismiss their lawsuit
  • Pursued a frivolous claim

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the North Carolina State Bar punished Jeff by gifting her with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2017) Jeff practices at 107 Chestnut Street in Wilmington, North Carolina.
