Attorney Melissa Mahler of Rochester, NY; convicted felon

The state of New York presented Melissa Ann Mahler with a law license in 1998 after he graduated from Syracuse University Law School.

The Departmental Disciplinary Committee found Melissa guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Melissa convicted upon her plea of guilty in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia (District Court) of violating 18 USC § 1001, a federal felony.

Melissa admitted that, during a telephone interview with officials from the Securities and Exchange Commission, she made false statements regarding a securities transaction in her personal brokerage account. She was sentenced to 2-years of probation, fined $2,500 and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Departmental Disciplinary Committee punished Melissa by gifting her with a complimentary 2-year suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2017), Melissa practices in Rochester, New York.
