Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA): Today’s “Screwball” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA)

Today’s “Screwball” Award Winner

During a recent (early Feb 2017) interview with Chris Matthews on MSNBC, Kellyanne decided

Jody a Southern Baptist pastor, right-wing radio host and all-around lunatic and bigot, recently (early Feb 2017) introduced legislation that would let religious organizations remain tax-exempt and express political views if they are made during regular church activities.

In truth, Jody and his fellow religious zealots are attempting to repeal Johnson (LBJ) Amendment, first enacted in 1954, prohibiting churches and other religious organizations from keeping their tax-exempt status if they endorse political candidates or participate in partisan political activities.

In support of this dreadful “Church of England” legislation, Jody said:

  • “For too long, the IRS has used the Johnson Amendment to silence and threaten religious institutions and charitable entities.”
  • “As a minister who has experienced intimidation from the IRS firsthand, I know just how important it is to ensure that our churches and nonprofit organizations are allowed the same fundamental rights as every citizen of this great nation.

So, Jody and his loony comrades are n effect requiringing that the following absurdities be made into low.

  • Catholics pay added taxes to support political activities of Mormons
  • Mormons pay added taxes to support political activities of Lutherans
  • Lutherans pay added taxes to support political activities of Buddhists
  • Scientologists pay added taxes to support political activities of 7th Day Adventists
  • Southern Baptists pay added taxes to support political activities of Jews
  • Jews pay added taxes to support political activities of Presbyterians

And the group that really gets screwed over royally are the Atheists because they’d be made to pay additional taxes to support every religion in the country.

And lastly, with this asinine law, what would stop a corporation or a lobbying group from making a political contribution to the church of their choice and thereby legally claim it as a tax free charitable expenditure?

Congrats Jody; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s most disrespected Screwballs; you are far too humble.
