Attorney David Harrison of Pickens, SC; slacker

The State of South Carolina presented David R. Harrison with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the South Carolina Supreme Court found Dave guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
  • Failed to keep client reasonably informed about status of matter
  • Failed to promptly comply with reasonable requests for information
  • Failed to provide client with written contingent fee agreement stating method by which the fee is to be determined
  • Failed to provide client with written statement stating the outcome of the matter, the remittance to the client, if there is a recovery, and the method of its determination
  • Failed to take steps to protect client’s interest upon termination
  • Failed to expedite client litigation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the South Carolina Supreme punished Dave by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2017) Dave practices in Pickens, South Carolina.
