Attorney Jeffrey Simms of Passaic, NJ; slacker, scofflaw

The state of New Jerseypresented Jeffrey G. Simms with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from Seton Hall University Law School.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Phil found Jeff guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to consult with his client
• Failed to abide by his client’s wishes whether to accept an offer of settlement
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Signed client’s name on settlement check
• Falsely notarized client’s "signature" on the settlement release
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Jeff by gifting him with a complimentary censure. 

Because Attorney Misfits in New Jersey are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Jeff was never criminally charged with falsification.
