Judge Walter Purtell of York, NY; pompous buffoon

Walter has been sitting as a York Town Justice court judge for the past eighteen years.

In one matterWalt presided over the second-degree manslaughter case involving Danielle Allen. During the proceedings, Walt prohibited the media from attending.

In fact, Walt joked that he might be sued for closing the courtroom to the press and the public. When court clerk Norma Geary told Walt he “better open the door” and said the town could be sued for closing the court, Walt responded by saying:

  • “That’s what the town needs is a good suit.”

Due to Walt’s unconstitutional and cavalier behavior, many residents in the York area have demanded that he either resign or be removed from his judgeship.

All that remains now is to see what if any action or punishment is taken by the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission

As we speak (ca. February 2017), Walt continues to sit as a York Town Justice Court judge in York, New York.
