Sen. Mitch McConnell Today’s “Screwball” Award Winner
This isn’t the first Award presented to Mitch. In the past, he has been the recipient of thirty-six (36) Awards in various categories and the subject of seventeen (17) awards and the subject of one (1) piece. Almost one year has passed since President Obama nominated DC Circuit Court of Appeals judge Merrick Garland to replace Justice Scalia on the Supreme Court.
Shortly after Garland’s nomination, Sen. McConnell declared that he would refuse to allow the Senate to hold a vote on said nomination. He went on to laughingly say that the person left with the choice to nominate Scalia’s replacement must be left for the voters to decide. Put simply, Mitch was saying that the voters who elected Obama in 2012 did not consider him to be legitimate.
When it became clear to Mitch that Hillary was going to win, he and his fellow comrades in the Senate declared that they would leave Scalia’s seat on the Court vacant for four (4) years before they’d allow Hillary to name a replacement. And if Hillary won in 2016 and again in 2020, its painfully clear that Mitch was willing to act as the Ultimate Obstructionist at least nine (9) years or until a Republican won the presidency.
After Donald “Trumporleone” Trump won the election, Mitch the Hypocrite said:
“We will not tolerate Democratic efforts to block President-elect Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.”
Mitch gives every well-intentioned hypocrites a bad name. Apparently, Mitch and those of his ilk believe that the United States Supreme Court is a branch of the Republican Party.
Congrats Mitch; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Screwballs”; you are far too humble.
