Attorney Louis Palivos of Chicago; ethical goblin

The state of Illinois presented with Louis Angelo Palivos a law license in 1986 after he graduated from the John Marshall School of Law.

The Disciplinary Commission found Louie guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter and after discovering that his independent professional judgment on behalf of a client may have been impaired by the interests of another client of his firm, and after withdrawing from his representation of said client, Louie demanded and received a fee for the legal services provided during the time of the said representation.

Even though the client was represented by another attorney, Louie initiated contact with the former attorney who had previously told him to not contact him. Louie then threatened disciplinary charges against the client’s new attorney to obtain an advantage in his fee dispute with the former client.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Louie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (November 2016), Louie practices with the Louis A. Palivos Law Office at 4765 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.
